Many people are interested in mole removal.  Moles that are removed, are then sent to pathology to be evaluated to make sure that they are not malignant/harmful.  At Las Vegas Dermatology, there is a charge for the mole removal, and a separate charge by the pathologist who has visualized the mole under the microscope to determine the nature of the mole.  Rarely, if a mole is particularly worrysome, or difficult to diagnose, it may be sent for other studies or a second opinion, sometimes, the lab will charge an additional cost for this service.

Other lesions like lentigos/freckles/sun spots can be removed by laser or freezing, but moles must be "cut out".  Sometimes, it is difficult to tell what a particular lesion is just by examination, in that case, the tissue is sent to pathology 1st and treated accordingly, once we know what type of lesion we are treating.  If you would like to have a "mole check" or just want a particular mole removed, feel free to call our office to schedule an appointment (702) 456-3120
